About ‘All TimeTop-Ten’ Movies

We all have an all-time top ten, or have at least tried to settle on a definite list.

Always changing and constantly challenged by even more new and remarkable movies; all-time top-tens are often contemporary and very individual, a list of films that stand the test of time and are true pieces of brilliance.

Here at my blog I am ever trying to continue with my on-going project to try writing reviews for my all-time top ten, but this is no easy task and I couldn’t say with absolute certainty that is it ‘definitive’.

I have found in the reviews I have written already that it has been difficult to try to pay total respect to the chosen films without missing anything, but also writing a review that is not too long or indulgent.

My All-time Top-Ten reviews are some off my longer works, but hopefully you can appreciate the respect I am trying to pay and may want to invest a little of your precious time in reading them, rating them and providing any comments or thoughts you have. I would be very grateful if you chose to do this and I would like to thank you in hopeful anticipation and for visiting my blog. I hope you like it.

So far I have reviewed some (linked in green) in the list below in my All-time Top Ten and over time I hope to complete my project. Please click the link to view.

Here is my list with a couple of guilty pleasures thrown in for fun.

  1. Well Kev, you’re doing a great job with your blog, and I may not read every one but I do enjoy reading the ones I do. Keep up the good work. Goodness, where to start with my favourite 10?! I have a feeling I may have listed one prviously but it’s not showing here….
I definitely have my guilty pleasures too, life wouldnt be fun without them! 😉
Okay, off the top Of my head….my favourites are:
*Star Wars Trilogy, but ep IV-A New Hope my fav
*LOTR – prob Return of the King as my fav
*Indiana Jones trilogy – …and the Last Crusade as my fav
The Matrix Trilogy – the first one, it’s blinking awesome!!!
Lawrence of Arabia – so beautifully shot. Would love to see this on the big screen.
Casablanca – love an old black and white movie sometimes…and this is definitely my fav black n white.
Gladiator – this has sentimental reasons for me.
Guilty pleasures being Twilight Saga and My Best Friends Wedding! 🙂

    • hi Bev! great to hear from i hope your new job is proving to be rewarding. i have casablanca to watch here so i will be reviewing it shortly. agree with many of those, defo LOTR and Star Wars, first matrix is immense. just posted a keanu classic, point break get on it!

  2. I don’t know how you can focus it down to just 10 flicks. I like way too many movies for way too many reasons to ever be able to just list ten.

  3. Let’s see, my top ten would be:

    2001: A Space Odyssey
Dr. Strangelove: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
The Place Promised in our Early Days
    Pulp Fiction
    Black Hawk Down
    Equilibrium
    Apocalypse Now
    Chasing Amy
    Dogma
    Blade Runner

At least off the top of my head.

      • I know those two are odd choices, especially because of my other picks. But Equilibrium is an absolutely amazing dystopian future while I could watch Black Hawk Down over and over again.

  4. Quite a well made-up list! I have about 6 in common with you, except a few like Star Wars and There Will Be Blood. To add to the list:
    1. Schindler’s List – A holocaust story which is extremely touching as well as heart-rending.
    2. Citizen Kane – Unarguably, one of the most acclaimed films of the world.
    3. How To Train Your Dragon 1 & 2 – One of Dreamworks’ superhits with amazing 3D animation; they even have am entire gaming website devoted to the films: http://www.schoolofdragons.com/how-to-train-your-dragon/httyd-2
    4. Gravity – The movie was out of this world. Spectacular.
