‘Something for the weekend’

My recommendation for this weekend’s viewing is curiously perhaps, sci fantasy ‘Batteries not included’ on ITV2 sat 10th March at 4.50pm. Now a modern classic it tells the story of how tiny alien spacecraft help residents of an apartment block when it is threatened to be demolished. If you have never seen it then check it out for some fun family viewing.

On Sky Movies this week are ‘Love and other drugs’ which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway  that tells the story of a young woman with Parkinson’s disease who falls in love with a drugs rep. it’s actually quite good and the girls will love it! And for the boys there is the excellent ‘Senna’ a documentary about 3 times formula one world champion Aryton Senna.

In cinemas, Disneys ‘John Carter’ is the big release, where a civil war hero is transported into sci fi adventure on Mars.

On DVD this week check out ‘Immortals’ the epic, mythological fantasy from the producers of ‘300’. Fans of slow-mo’s should be happy! And Woody Allens latest Comedy Dram ‘Midnight in Paris’
