What to watch this weekend? Claratsi recommends, ‘Watchmen’

My Recommendation for the weekend is ‘Watchmen’ on Film 4 11.05pm Friday 2nd March. Former superheroes are brought out of retirement as a plot unfolds that   edges the world closer to nuclear obliteration. A truly fantastic movie, which miraculously and near flawlessly adapts the famous graphic novel by Alan Moore.

The graphic novel is a masterpiece and a film adaptation had always been long in coming as it was regarded as being ‘un-filmable’. Director Zack Snyder somehow managed this feat with a loyal and accurate re-imagining. Highly stylised as you would expect from the director of ‘300’, and true to the fantastical alternative future story, ‘Watchmen’ is truly unique and compelling. A completely immersive and often surreal experience that is quite unlike all other ‘superhero’ movies. Watch it!

In Cinemas, Tom Hardy (Warrior, Inception), Chris Pine (Star Trek) and Reese Witherspoon (Legally Blonde) star in ‘This Means War’. Two CIA agents fight over the same girl in this Action, Rom-Com.

Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd (Anchor-man, I love you man) star in comedy ‘Wanderlust’ as a couple who start a new life in a hippy commune.

On Sky Movies ‘Hanna’ premieres, starring Eric Bana, Cate Blanchett and Saoirse Ronan, it tells the story of a teenage assassin trained by her father who is dispatched on a dangerous mission to Eastern Europe. I still haven’t  seen this so I am going to be checking this out!

On TV, X-men Origins: Wolverine is on Film 4 9pm Friday 02/03, starring Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds it tells the origin of wolverine and his entry into project X.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind on More 4 Fri 2 Mar 11.05pm starring Jim Carrey, a shy guy struggles with the break up from his girlfiend Kate Winslet after she has all memory of their relationship erased.

Whatever you watch or do this weekend, have a great time,

Claratsi.
