What’s on this weekend! (A really good amount of stuff on this week!)

Here’s my weekly update and suggestions on the best movie entertainment this weekend.

There is only one place to start and that is with The Oscars this Sunday night. The highlight of the Movie calendar and this will surely be a memorable event with a truly great year for film in 2011.

See my Oscars 2012 Blog here.

It’s also a big weekend for Cinema releases,

Catch Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds in Safe House. Reynolds plays a CIA operative tasked to protect Washington’s rogue agent when a CIA safe house in Cape Town is attacked.

Judi Dench and a cast of Britain’s finest star in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel,  A group of pensioners take the retirement Journey of a life time to India to a supposedly ‘newly restored’ hotel.

And there are still loads of great films on general release, here’s this week’s UK top Ten:

1              The Woman in Black

2              The Muppets (reviewed here)

3              Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (in 3D) (reviewed here)

4              The Vow

5              Chronicle

6              Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

7              The Descendants             (reviewed here)

8              War Horse

9              Jack and Jill

10           Man on a Ledge

Warrior is released on Blu-ray and DVD if your viewing is going to take place from the armchair this weekend. Tom Hardy (coolest man on the planet right now!) stars as a mixed martial artist who is set on a collision course with his brother when he enters a fight tournament.

Ryan Gosling and George Clooney star in The Ides of March, A political drama where a new press secretary for a presidential candidate, gets a lesson in dirty politics during an election campaign.

But if you’re just gonna stick with good old telly this weekend here is my pick of what’s on the box with some true modern classics to enjoy!

Jim Carrey stars in The Truman Show on film4 Friday 24/02 7.05pm

Seven starring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman, is not to be missed on MTV Friday 24/02 at 11pm

And the Quentin Tarantino scribed True Romance is on 5USA sat 25/02 at 10pm, another not to be missed!

Now if all that doesn’t give you something to do…Have a Great weekend!
